As a part of the Intitut’s regular morning workshops, as far as the sanitary conditions allow, the morning of 18 June 2021 will be dedicated to the representatives of the tourist accommodation sector with the objective of presenting programmes and aids from which they can benefit in order to be a part of advanced practices including current and future economic, social and environmental impacts.
The previous year and the COVID-19 pandemic accompanied with restrictive measures affected tourism immensely. According to the Regional Tourism Committee, Île-de-France recorded a historic drop in overnight stays in 2020 with a loss of more than 33 million tourists compared to 2019. This long period, however, could allow these establishments to review their business models, sustainability practices and better adapt to the new reality and the restart of tourism activities.
The morning will begin with a reminder of the various challenges of sustainable tourism and their consideration by the Île-de-France Region in its strategies in favour of circular economy and tourism. The participants will further be presented with an overview of the involvement of accommodation and travel companies in sustainable tourism, resulting from a survey carried out in February. The morning would continue with a presentation of public support mechanisms aimed at tourism professionals, including the TOURISME project. The seminar would end with a series of workshops in which the participants would be able to talk to professionals such as hoteliers, travel agencies and other actors who are already involved in such processes and who would share their objectives, their approach and their remarks.
The full description, as well as the impressive list of speakers can be found on this page. Registrations are done through the same page. The page and the event are in French.
