TOURISME at 9th International Maspalomas Costa Canaria Tourism Forum

The TOURISME project took part in the 9th International Maspalomas Costa Canaria Tourism Forum in Gran Canaria, Spain, on 10th December 2021.

TOURISME’s coordinating entity, Consulta Europa Projects & Innovation, is an SME located in Gran Canaria, and it had the pleasure to participate in the Forum with a dedicated booth in order to promote the project. The Forum was a high-level event that gathered hundreds of tourism specialists and professionals in the main tourist municipality of Gran Canaria on an annual basis.

Organised by the Town Hall of St. Bartolomé de Tirajana, the Canary Government, the Island Council of Gran Canaria and the University of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, the Forum is a place for exchanging opinions and experiences concerning the main challenges of this industry and possible solutions for those, as well as presenting the trends that shall determine the future for tourist businesses.

The TOURISME project was present with a dedicated booth, which was visited by a wide range of stakeholders and the project successfully managed to raise awareness about our actions and upcoming training and networking activities with SMEs from Spain, Italy, France, and Cyprus.

Ms Natalia Martínez Páramo, Head of Unit of the EISMEA – Executive Agency for SMEs (SMEs/COSME Pillar) of the European Commission was also present at the Forum. Ms Martínez Páramo visited the TOURISME booth and met with the project’s coordinator Ms Michelle Perello, CEO of Consulta Europa. Furthermore, Ms Martínez Páramo mentioned our project during her intervention at the Forum: “[…] what better example than the European project TOURISME: 158 SMEs applied for the project call for proposals, out of which 62 were selected, including 16 Spanish hotels, travel agencies, and holiday accommodations.

The project thank Ms Martínez Páramo for her words and for remembering the importance of SMEs not only for tourism, but also for the whole EU economy!
