The TOURISME call for SMEs to benefit from capacity building activities and a financial support for improving their environmental performance for Cypriot SMEs is now extended until 1 March!
For two years now, the COVID-19 pandemic and the accompanying sanitary conditions with various imposed rules exposed to a great extent the vulnerability of the tourism industry. The tourism business lost hundreds of millions of visitors in 2020 profoundly affecting their activities. At the same time, the health crisis also accelerated social transformations, with consumers now seeking more responsible and benevolent tourism. If you are a tourist accommodation or a professional in the tourism business in Cyprus, we would like to support you in gaining competitiveness back by participating in the European TouriSME programme.
The offer includes trainings for increasing your capacities and skills with an extensive knowledge transfer and matchmaking events for cooperation accompanied with an exchange of best practices and mentoring support in accessing environmental certifications. These capacity building activities will enable you to put in place new practices in your business such as consuming less energy and resources, producing less waste and offering new ways of travelling in line with the markets requirements.
Depending on your objectives you would set for your business, you could be supported with up to €4,000 if you are selected to be one of the TouriSME beneficiaries. The call is targeting either a Small or a Medium Enterprise located in Cyprus from one the following categories:
- Hotels and similar accommodation
- Holiday and other type of short-stay accommodation
- Travel agencies, tour operators, reservation services and related activities
The call and the expressions of interest can be found through this link. Interested parties need to fill in all sections of the application form, accept the privacy policy and declaration of honour and click on “Submit”. They will receive a confirmation e-mail with a copy of your answers.
The deadline for application is on 01/03/2022 at 18:00 CET after which an Evaluation Committee composed of 8 evaluators will select at least 12 participating SMEs from Cyprus by 1st of March 2022. If the business is selected, you will participate in the programme’s activities for one year.
